An International Webinar was organized in St. Vincent Pallotti College on the subject “Physical Classroom Vs Virtual Classroom : In the Context of Higher Education” on Sunday, 28th June, 2020. The webinar was organized by IQAC in association with Department of Computer Science. When the whole world is suffering from the global pandemic, the motive of this webinar was very significant. After the worldwide epidemic, classes are digitalized. Online learning is at its boom. So it becomes essential to find out the pros and cons of physical classrooms and virtual classrooms. Hence, to throw light on this relevant subject matter, was the main objective of this Webinar. More than 1200 participants had been registered for this Webinar.
In the Welcome Address, Dr. Kuldeep Dubey, Principal of the college had extended his greetings to all the eminent guests and valuable participants. In his address, he described about the importance of the webinar subject in today’s scenario of global pandemic.
Prof. Keshari Lal Verma, H’ble Vice Chancellor, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur was the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker of the event. This occasion was a precious moment for our college since we witnessed various renowned and distinguished speakers from all over the world, which includes
- Ismile Md. Zain, Director – Dynamic Global Vision, Malaysia,
- A. K. Pati, Vice Chancellor, Gangadhar Mehar University, Sambalpur, Odisha,
- Nitin Malik, Registrar, B.R. Ambedkar University, New Delhi and
- Atul Sharma, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
In his address, Prof. K. L. Verma has put light on comparative analysis of physical classrooms and virtual classrooms. He mentioned that although there are wide advantages of physical and face to face learnings to build strong knowledge base and to build strong relationships too, but virtual classroom is the need of the hour. All those who are involved in teaching-learning process should make themselves techno-savvy. Prof. Verma has congratulated the Management and Organizers of the Webinar for conduction of the successful event. He also has extended his best wishes for the better prospects of the college.
Dr. Ismile MD. Zain from Malaysia have discussed about the “Different Approaches in Enhancing Virtual Learning”. In second session, Prof. A.K. Pati spoke about the “Pros and Cons of Virtual Teaching Learnings”. Dr. Nitin Malik focused on “Virtual classroom : Need of the hour, requires gradual and systematic changes”. And in the fourth session Dr. Atul Sharma from Melbourne, Australia communicated on “Challenges and Opportunities in Virtual Learning”.
Director of the college, Rev. Fr. Shanti Prakash Panna had offered his gratitude and good wishes to Prof. K.L. Verma and to all the speakers of the event. Dr. G. Padma Gouri, Vice Principal and Mrs. Pooja Rathi, HOD (CS) and IQAC Coordinator were the Organizing Secretaries of the Webinar. Mrs. Pooja Rathi coordinated the event and Dr. G. Padma Gouri extended Vote of Thanks. Mrs. Abhilasha Khare, Mr. Manoj singh and Mrs. Shikha Agrawal were the members of organizing committee. The event was performed using Zoom app and was live streamed on YouTube. This webinar was a grand success and more than 1200 feedbacks received after the completion of the webinar. All have appreciated the speakers and congratulated the organizing team.
